Passing: Reporter dies after suffering brain hemorrhage

Veteran New York WABC-TV News reporter and anchor Lisa Colagrossi, 49, suffered a brain hemorrhage while returning from covering a fire the morning of March 19. She was taken to a hospital where she died the next day.
Colagrossi was reportedly in a news van with cameraman Marvin Hoffman on the way back to the station when she collapsed. Hoffman reportedly flagged down a passing ambulance. Although the ambulance already had a patient inside, he insisted the paramedics take Colagrossi. She was transported to New York-Presbyterian Weill Cornell Medical Center where she was admitted to the hospital’s intensive care unit, but did not regain consciousness. She was pronounced dead March 20.
She began her broadcast career at WKYC-TV in Cleveland, her hometown. Colagrossi was an anchor at WKMG-TV in Orlando, Fla., where she won two local Emmy awards. She broke into the highly competitive New York City media market at WABC-TV, just a few days after the World Trade Center attacks in 2001.
Colagrossi is survived by her husband and two sons.
